With the completion of the MAPSONS project, we assessed its outcomes and contribution to Greece’s energy planning, laying the groundwork for future scientific collaborations and policy initiatives. The final report of the project will be delivered to the Secretary General for Insular Policy and Aegean, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy to support the development of appropriate planning of maritime activities within the scope of Blue Economy.

The MAPSONS project was concluded with a final event at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Engineering (IV), Department of Marine Technology, Trondheim, Norway, where the results of the project were presented and recommendations on offshore wind energy site prioritization in Greece was performed, with the participation of stakeholders and researchers.

The Secretary General for Insular Policy and Aegean of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Mr. Manolis Koutoulakis, was also present.

We visited Northern Chios to engage with local stakeholders and communities and collect views on offshore wind farm development in general, and in particular regarding the proposed offshore wind farm in Chios. Questionnaires were distributed and an open informational session was organized on 22/2/2025, where the responses to the questionnaires were collected.

In the framework of the MAPSONS project, we welcomed our partner from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) for knowledge exchange, joint planning, and alignment of scientific tools for offshore wind energy assessment.
